With a trip as complicated as this one, I guess it was expecting too much to think we'd be able to leave without already knowing of a few of the inevitable future snags* . The origin of this lament is that I made Eurail reservations three and a half weeks ago, and the tickets were supposed to have arrived by now; however, according to the woman I spoke to at the call center in Berlin (after getting up at 6 a.m., calling 12 times, and sitting on hold for 30 minutes), they'll arrive "sometime this week." I'd like to think that we're getting all of our bad luck out of the way on the front end, and that we'll be able to get on the trains we need to no problem. Fingers, toes, etc., all crossed.
6 a.m. CST today might have been rather annoying... but at 6 a.m. CST tomorrow, we'll be in London!

* which will test the wit, courage, and ingenuity of your intrepid heroines. Never fear: they shall always rise to the challenge. [Also, cue scene from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and re-read "snag" in Fudge's voice. This passage can be found on p.619 of the American hardcover edition. Since this trip has already sent me sprinting for a Harry Potter book, I think it can be counted as a success.]
P.S. Dad wanted to know what I was doing. I said, "Working on our blog." Scintillating conversation, I know, but I am Dr. Watson, officially!
Bon voyage
